Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi led the charge and made an impassioned speech promoting the legislation. There’s just one problem: Almost every single major factual claim she made about the “Build Back Better” agenda is false.

“Build Back Better is fully paid for. It reduces the deficit and grows the economy,” Pelosi said on the House floor.
01:16/01:18

This is incorrect on all counts.

The “Build Back Better” plan will likely cost taxpayers up to $4.9 trillion — and no, it isn’t “fully paid for” by offsetting tax increases. (Even if it were, that’s an insane amount of money going to wasteful government spending schemes.) The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office concluded that the bill would add $367 billion to the deficit over 10 years — or about $160 billion if one factors in the money possibly raised by the legislation’s enhanced IRS tax crackdowns.

Either way, that’s not “fully paid for,” and it’s certainly not a deficit reduction.

And that’s under the rosy, unrealistic assumption that the “temporary” spending programs actually are temporary. In reality, many will become permanent, and Democrats have openly stated their desire to extend them. The Wharton School of Business modeled a more realistic scenario in which much of the “Build Back Better” spending is made permanent. It found that government debt would increase by 25% over 30 years — which means trillions of dollars in new debt on the shoulders of taxpayers.

At least this investment will “grow the economy” like Pelosi says, right?

Yeah, no.

The “Build Back Better” agenda creates countless new government programs, such as electric vehicle tax credits that flow largely to the wealthy , increased child tax credits, the creation of a “Civilian Climate Corps” to pay young people to do environmental activism, and healthcare subsidies that even go to the wealthy. Some of these programs may have some benefits. But the resources invested in them don’t magically appear out of thin air. Every dollar spent by the government is, directly or indirectly, a dollar not invested elsewhere in the economy by the productive private sector.

When you take both the benefits of the plans and these trade-offs into account, the net effects are all negative. The Wharton analysis finds that under the scenario in which much of the spending is made permanent, the “Build Back Better” agenda leads to not just higher debt but lower economic growth, lower wages, and lower employment over the long run.

Oops!

The most ironic error Pelosi makes in her case for the multitrillion-dollar spending legislation is claiming that it benefits the working class and taxes the rich, while the GOP’s 2017 tax reform only benefited the rich. In reality, the tax reform boosted economic growth overall, and at least 65% of people got a direct tax cut. Yet, it is true that, because wealthy people pay more federal taxes, they did receive a large portion of the overall tax savings under the GOP bill.

What makes this criticism from Pelosi ring so hollow is that she just added a massive tax cut for the rich into the “Build Back Better” plan. Democrats changed the state and local tax deduction, an obscure tax provision that largely benefits rich people who live in blue states, to the tune of $280 billion in tax relief . It almost all flows to high earners.

As a result, the “Build Back Better” plan actually cuts overall taxes for the rich on net — a tad hypocritical for Democratic legislation, to say the least.

It’s not surprising that Pelosi is twisting herself in logical pretzels and making false claims in her efforts to confiscate trillions of our dollars to spend as she wishes. But voters shouldn’t fall for the speaker’s rank deception on a matter of this magnitude.

I hope you like it

Comment

I hope you like it and you join in

tip

please do not get into the grouping that i have previously shared in my websites (after all this time and all these situations , please do not join this grouping )

enjoy your holidays

be honest , stay loyal and stay away from any sort of betray

The House voted Friday to advance President Joe Biden’s multitrillion-dollar welfare and climate change spending legislation, theContinue reading(Washington Examiner )Almost everything Pelosi is saying about Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ agenda is wrong

["post-646","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
