When it comes to disrespect for voters, too much is never enough for New York\u2019s Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul stuck her thumb in the eye of the millions of New Yorkers who approved a constitutional amendment in 2014 creating a nonpartisan panel to supervise redistricting when she signed a bill that effectively short-circuits the panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voters last month also rejected constitutional amendments meant to further weaken New York\u2019s anemic ballot-integrity laws, allowing same-day voter registration and making permanent mail-in voting rules adopted by fiat during the COVID emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet now Democratic lawmakers are advancing workarounds intended to undo that referendum, too. Apparently, veto-proof majorities in both legislative houses aren\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Democrats claim to care about Democracy and \u201cnorms\u201d \u2014 yet this is blatant abuse of power as they ignore the will of the people. Voters unambiguously said no. That should be the end of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
