In an effort to reach the herd immunity China conducts 1.72 billion corona vaccinations

China’s health facilities have conducted 1.72 billion vaccinations as part of the overall campaign of the State Hygiene and Health Commission, Xinhua reported.

Official data indicate that 1708356000 doses of vaccines have been distributed across the country, while Over the past 24 hours Chinese medical teams have given more than 19.7 million vaccines.

Shao Yiming, a Chinese epidemiologist and senior vaccine development research expert in China, said last month that reaching herd immunity requires fully vaccinating 80-85% of the population, or more than 1 billion people.

To date, four Chinese-made vaccines have been approved to enter the country’s market, and three other drugs have been authorized for emergency use.
